St. Tammany Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1957 solely for the benefit of St. Tammany Parish School Board Employees and their immediate family members. 

For many years the Credit Union operated in space made available by Slidell Junior High School. Later the Credit Union rented office space and finally in 2002 the Credit Union's main office location at 862 Brownswitch Road in Slidell was completed.
